Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shrinkable label made of a polyester, by which neither rise of a liquid level of contents nor overflow of contents out of a mouth of a container is caused when the container is unsealed even in the case where it is stuck on a rectangular plastic container having a pressure reducing panel. SOLUTION: The shrinkable label for a rectangular plastic bottle with a pressure reducing panel is the one made of a polyester whose heat shrinkage factor is 40-80% in one direction X when it is treated at 90 deg.C for ten seconds and whose maximum shrinkage stress in the direction X does not exceed 10 MPa when it is treated at 90 deg.C for ten seconds. The rectangular plastic bottle having the pressure reducing panel is covered with the shrinkable label in such a manner that the pressure reducing panel is covered, and the shrinkable label is heat-shrunk by steam to be stuck on the plastic bottle. Thus, the plastic bottle with the shrunk label which causes no rise of a liquid level when the plastic bottle is unsealed can be manufactured.

T) As a plastic bottle such as a bottle (a bottle made of polyethylene terephthalate), a rectangular bottle having a polygonal shape such as a substantially rectangular cross section has recently been used. Among such rectangular plastic bottles, the bottles that fill the contents in a hot state, after capping, absorb the reduced pressure on the side of the bottle so that the bottle does not deform even if the inside is in a reduced pressure state when cooled, A concave decompression panel is provided for relaxation.

[0003] However, when a polyester shrink label usually used for such a rectangular bottle is attached so as to cover the depressurizing panel portion, the label presses the bottom surface of the concave portion of the depressurizing panel during heat shrinkage. In such a case, there is a problem that the liquid level (the body line) of the contents rises or the contents overflow from the mouth. In particular, such a phenomenon often occurs recently because the thickness of the bottle has become thinner. In addition, when a shrink label other than polyester is used, the phenomenon is hardly seen,
When the bottle is opened, the pressure is released and the bottle slightly swells outward, so that the liquid level of the contents slightly decreases.

The stretching can be performed by any of a tenter method and a tube method. The stretching treatment is carried out at an appropriate temperature in consideration of the glass transition temperature of the polyester constituting the film and the like in a direction corresponding to the circumferential direction of the container [usually, in the width direction (TD direction)] by 1.5 to 8 times, preferably. It is performed by stretching about 4 to 5 times. In addition, if necessary, a low stretching ratio (for example, about 1.5 times or less) may also be used in a direction (usually, the length direction (MD direction)) orthogonal to the above direction.
Can be subjected to a stretching treatment. Also, after stretching,
Heat setting is performed in which the sheet passes through a heating zone of about 60 to 90 ° C for about 1 to 10 seconds. The film thus obtained has an orientation in the main stretching direction and exhibits a large heat shrinkage in the direction.

In the shrink label 1 of the present invention,
The maximum shrinkage stress in the direction X when treated at 90 ° C. for 10 seconds is less than 10 MPa (for example, 2 MPa or more and 10 MPa
a), preferably less than 7 MPa (eg, 4 MPa
Above, less than 7 MPa). The maximum shrinkage stress is 10
When the pressure exceeds MPa, when mounted on a rectangular plastic bottle 2 with a decompression panel filled with contents at a high temperature, the shrink label 1 has too large a force to tighten the bottle 2, especially the decompression panel 3, and cooling is performed. Later, the inside of the bottle is rather pressurized. Therefore, at the time of opening,
The liquid level in the bottle may rise or the contents may overflow from the mouth of the bottle. On the other hand, when the shrink label having the maximum shrinkage stress of less than 10 MPa is attached to the hot-filled rectangular plastic bottle 2 with the decompression panel, the shrink label 1 does not excessively tighten the bottle 2. Therefore, after cooling, the inside of the bottle is slightly depressurized due to the reduction of the volume of the liquid and air in the bottle and the dissolution of air in the liquid, and the liquid level drops when the bottle is opened.

The maximum shrinkage stress includes, for example, the molecular weight and crystallinity of the polyester constituting the film, the types and composition ratios of the dicarboxylic acid component and the diol component in the polyester, the stretching ratio during the stretching process, and the heat setting temperature. The time can be set within the above range by appropriately selecting time and the like.

The rectangular plastic bottle 2 is not particularly limited as long as it is a plastic bottle having a flat portion on its side (body portion) and provided with a pressure reducing panel 3. As a typical example, a rectangular cross section is used. Decompression panels 3 on the four sides
And a plastic bottle having the formula: As the material of the bottle, any material having heat resistance enough to withstand hot filling (temperature of 80 to 90 ° C.) may be used, and typical examples thereof include polyethylene terephthalate (PET),
Examples include polyesters such as polybutylene terephthalate (PBT). The shape of the decompression panel 3 is not particularly limited as long as it can absorb the reduced pressure and suppress the deformation of the bottle, but it is a substantially square concave shape having a slightly raised convex portion at the center. There are many cases.

In the plastic bottle with a shrink label of the present invention, for example, the shrink label 1 of the present invention formed in a cylindrical shape is supplied to an automatic label mounting device, cut into a required length, and then the usual contents are removed. It can be manufactured by continuously fitting the rectangular plastic bottle 2 having the above-described filled pressure reducing panel 3, including the pressure reducing panel portion, and heat-shrinking it by heating. The heat shrinkage of the shrink label 1 fitted on the bottle 2 may be performed by any known method, but, for example, from 80 to 1 for the purpose of uniformly transmitting the temperature and improving the finish of the label.
It is preferable to make the heat shrink by passing through a steam tunnel at about 00 ° C.

EXAMPLE A copolyester containing terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol as main components of a dicarboxylic acid component and a diol component was extruded, stretched 4.5 times in the width direction (TD direction), and heated at 70.degree. Heat set for 50 seconds
A μm base film was prepared. After one surface of this base film is subjected to gravure printing of a design consisting of eight colors using a reactive urethane-based ink, the base film is wound into a roll, and the four types having different heat shrinkage characteristics as shown in Table 1 are obtained. Shrink labels (A, B, C and D) were obtained. In addition,
The component compositions of the base films of these four types of shrink labels are as follows. Shrink label A: 15 parts by weight of PBT, 65 parts by weight of PET, PET-G (polyethylene terephthalate containing cyclohexanedimethanol as a glycol component) 2
0 parts by weight of the blend polymer (the stretching ratio in one direction is 4.
Shrink label B: 20 parts by weight of PBT, 50 parts by weight of PET, and 30 parts by weight of PET-G (a unidirectional stretching ratio is 4.5 to 6 times) Shrink label C: 30 parts by weight of PBT, 40 parts by weight of PET , PET-G 30 parts by weight of a blend polymer (unidirectional stretching ratio 4.5 to 6 times) Shrink label D: polyethylene terephthalate containing neopentyl glycol as a glycol component (unidirectional stretching ratio 4.5 to 6 times) After slitting the roll-shaped shrink label to a predetermined width to form a plurality of roll-shaped materials, each roll-shaped material is rewound and rolled into a cylindrical shape such that the width direction of the base film is circumferential. Both ends were welded by heat to obtain a continuous long shrink label. This continuous shrink label is supplied to an automatic label mounting apparatus, cut into each label, and then hot-filled with coffee (temperature: 85 ° C.). As shown in FIG. 1, a PET bottle having a volume of 500 ml was externally fitted and passed through a steam tunnel (temperature: 90 ° C.) to be thermally shrunk. Store the PET bottle with coffee with the shrink label attached in this way in the refrigerator (temperature 5 ° C)
After that, it was taken out and opened, and the change in the liquid level of the coffee at this time was visually observed and evaluated according to the following criteria. Table 1 shows the results. :: The liquid level dropped. X: The liquid level was constant or rose.
