Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a metal mold of long life which can be used for continuously punch processing a thick steel plate or the like for long time by applying an electric discharge surface hardening treatment for forming a hard ceramics coating at a cutting blade portion of the mold or at a contacting portion with the plate material after the mold material is roughly processed for performing a heat treatment of quenching, tempering so as to apply a finish cut processing such as a turning cut. SOLUTION: After a rough processing such as punching is applied to a metal mold material, a quenching, tempering heat treatment is performed. Then, the mold material is finished in high measurement accuracy by applying a finish processing. An electric discharge surface treatment is performed for forming a hard ceramics coating by using electrodes suitable for shapes of portions to be hardened such as a cutting blade portion of the mold for a punch and a die, or a portion where the mold is brought into contact with the plate material at the time of processing. In addition, quality inspection is carried out. Since a hardening treatment is applied to the surface of the mold with the electric discharge surface treatment, rigidity HV is made, for example, to be at 2,500-3,000 and, a coating strength at a tip of the blade is high. Even when a punch processing is performed, seizing or a break away is not taken place on the mold, and pitching is not generated either. Mold life is thus improved.

[0003] In the punching process by a punch press, a punched die and a die are used to form a required contour in a plate material to produce a molded product, or the hole is continuously formed to form a straight or curved contour. Often used to make plate-like parts with The pressing force required for the punching process is represented by a mathematical expression “P = A × τ × t”. Here, P is the required pressure (kg), A is the cutting contour length (mm), τ is the shear resistance (kg / mm 2 ) of the punched material, and t is the plate thickness (mm) of the punched material. Therefore, even if the cutting contour length A of the punched material and the plate thickness t are the same, the required pressing force P increases if the shear resistance τ of the material is large, and if the cutting contour length A is the same and the plate thickness t is large, the required pressing force becomes large. P increases.

If the clearance (gap between the punch and the die) is reduced, seizure may occur on the side surface of the punch. In particular, during the processing of a thick plate, seizure or peeling is likely to occur on the side surface P of a narrow rectangular punch having a small width as shown in FIG. 8 or the side surface of a small diameter punch (not shown). At the time of punching a thick plate or a stainless steel plate having a large shear resistance τ, the pressing force P required for the processing is increased, and the stress on the punch tip is increased. Therefore, when punching a thick plate or a stainless steel plate, a large amount of special processing oil is applied to the surface to lubricate the punch tip, and the punching process is performed in order to prevent dripping from occurring at the cutting edge of the punch. I have to.

A turret type punch press having a large number of dies and automatically exchanging these dies and punching, bending, or embossing one sheet material is required. Many high-precision dies with small dimensions are used, and many precision dies have complicated shapes. Moreover, since the processing speed of the turret type punch press is generally high, the clearance of the small and precise mold as described above is small, so that seizure or chipping may occur on the mold and defective processed products may be produced. is there.

In view of the above, various coating treatment methods have been conventionally proposed for hardening the surface of a die such as a punch or a die of a punch press. As a first example of the prior art of this method, materials such as tool steel (SKD material) are rough-processed, the hardness is increased by heat treatment of quenching and tempering, and the product is finished to a punch or die product size by grinding. After that, there is a manufacturing method in which a complete die is formed by a CVD method in which a hard film of titanium carbide (TiC) is formed by an ion plating method. When forming the hardened layer of titanium carbide, the mold is heat-treated at a high temperature of about 1000 ° C. The surface hardness of the surface hardened layer of the mold by the CVD method is micro Vickers hardness (HV) 3000 to 3,000.

However, the method of manufacturing a die for a punch press in the above-mentioned prior art has the following problems. In the first prior art, the mold is treated at a high temperature of about 1000 ° C. in forming a hard coating of titanium carbide (TiC). This processing temperature is higher than the tempering temperature at the time of the heat treatment in the previous step, and therefore, the external dimensions of the finished mold are thermally deformed, so that it is difficult to control the dimensional accuracy of the punch or die. In addition, since the toughness of the mold material obtained by tempering in the heat treatment is reduced,
Dripping is likely to occur at the tip of the punch, shortening the life of the mold. Further, since the mold is thermally deformed, a required uniform clearance cannot be ensured, and burrs may be generated on the product, and dimensional accuracy and appearance quality of the product may be reduced. Therefore, it is necessary for an operator to inspect the mold and the product in order to prevent the occurrence of a product defect, and there is a problem that the mold cannot be used for a long period of automatic operation due to unmanned operation. Further, in the CVD method, it is difficult to sharpen the cutting edge corner portion Q as shown in FIG. 8, and there is a problem in producing a small and precise mold for a turret type punch press.

In the case of the second prior art, the surface hardness of the surface hardened layer of the formed mold is micro Vickers hardness (H).
V) It is about 2000. Therefore, if this mold is used continuously for a long time for punching thick plates and stainless steel plates, it will stick to the surface hardened layer of the punch during punching,
Peeling or chipping (partial breakage) may occur, and chipping may also occur at corners of the die. For this reason, burrs and secondary shearing surfaces are likely to be generated in the punched product, and the dimensional accuracy and appearance quality of the product are reduced. Therefore, there is a problem that the die cannot be used for long-time automatic operation due to unmanned operation. Further, when a sharp cutting edge corner Q as shown in FIG. 8 is polished and used again in a punch manufactured by the PVD method, there is a problem that a hardened layer is peeled off from the corner.

According to the first aspect of the present invention, finish machining is performed by finish cutting to improve the dimensional accuracy of the mold.
The coating process is performed at a low temperature by the discharge surface hardening process. The hard ceramic film formed by this discharge surface hardening treatment has a very high hardness as compared with a hardened layer formed by the conventional PVD method hardening treatment, for example, micro Vickers hardness (HV)
It corresponds to 2500 to 3000. In addition, since the surface hardening treatment for forming the hard ceramic film is performed by electric discharge,
The mold is not heated at a high temperature, and is processed at a temperature lower than the tempering temperature during the heat treatment in the previous process. Thereby, without reducing the toughness of the material obtained by tempering,
A tough mold can be manufactured. Furthermore, since the external dimensions of the metal mold that has been finally finished by the finish cutting do not undergo thermal deformation, high dimensional accuracy after the finish processing can be maintained. As described above, the hardness and toughness of the material surface can be increased, and the surface roughness is fine (that is, the surface is smooth), so that the adhesion between the material and the surface treatment layer is extremely high. Accordingly, since the hardness of the coating of the mold is high, the coating strength of the cutting edge is increased, and the punch does not seize and peel even after performing a punching process in which a large stress is applied to the tip of the punch. However, the die is less likely to sag and chipping does not occur in the mold, so that the life of the mold can be greatly improved. In addition, since the punching process or the forming process can be performed with the optimum clearance, the appearance quality and the dimensional accuracy of the shear surface of the product can be improved.

According to the second aspect of the invention, at least at the end of the finishing process, a grinding process is performed to smooth the surface roughness of the mold, and thereafter, a coating process is performed at a low temperature by a discharge surface hardening process. The hard ceramic film formed by this discharge surface hardening treatment has a very high hardness as compared with a hardened layer formed by the conventional PVD method hardening treatment, and corresponds to, for example, a micro Vickers hardness (HV) 2500 to 3000. Thereby, a mold having high toughness can be manufactured without reducing the toughness of the material obtained by tempering. According to the third aspect of the present invention, after performing a discharge surface hardening treatment for forming a hard ceramic film, buffing or honing is performed, so that slight irregularities called cutter marks or tooth marks remaining on the finished surface due to the cutting process are obtained. Alternatively, slight irregularities on the grinding wheel of the wheel remaining on the finished surface by the grinding process are removed, and the mold is finished to a smooth surface. Therefore, since the surface of the mold in contact with the processing material has a high surface hardness and a smooth surface roughness, even when punching and forming (bending, embossing, etc.) are performed, welding, seizure, peeling, and the like are performed. Chipping and the like hardly occur, and burrs of the processed product do not occur. Thereby, the life of the mold can be improved, and the appearance quality and dimensional accuracy of the processed product can be remarkably improved.

According to the fourth aspect of the present invention, since the mold is manufactured by the manufacturing method according to any one of the first to third aspects, the coating strength at the portion of the mold in contact with the plate material is increased, and seizure and peeling of the mold occur. And chipping does not occur.
In addition, even in the coating process, since the external dimensions of the mold that has been finally finished by cutting or grinding do not undergo thermal deformation, variations in the final dimensional accuracy of the mold are reduced,
Therefore, processing can be performed with high accuracy. In addition, the edge of the punch is less likely to sag. After the film formation process, the surface roughness in contact with the processed material becomes extremely smooth by polishing and polishing to a mirror surface, and the welding phenomenon occurs even when used as a molding die such as bending or embossing Disappears. Therefore, even when punching a thick plate or a stainless steel plate on which a large stress is applied to the tip of the punch, seizure of the die and sagging of the cutting edge do not occur, and the punching process can be performed with an optimum clearance. With this, when using a long angle or small diameter punch with a narrow width when processing a thick plate,
There is almost no seizure occurring on the side of the punch, and processing can be performed with optimal clearance. In addition, since a thick plate or a stainless steel plate can be processed with an appropriate amount of lubricating oil, the degreasing work is also facilitated and the processing can be performed in a short time. By performing the processing with the optimum clearance in this manner, a product without burrs can be obtained, and the life of the mold and the appearance quality and dimensional accuracy of the shear surface of the product can be improved. Furthermore, it can also be used for continuous long-time punching of thick plates and stainless steel plates.

According to the first embodiment, since the surface of the die for punch press is hardened by electric discharge surface treatment, the hardness (HV) is 2500 to 300 higher than the conventional one.
A cured layer of 0 is obtained. Accordingly, since the hardness of the coating of the mold is high, the coating strength of the cutting edge is increased, and seizure or peeling of the die does not occur even when performing punching processing in which a large stress is applied to the tip of the punch. The cutting edge of the punch is less likely to sag, and chipping does not occur in the mold, so that the life of the mold can be improved. In addition, since the coating is formed by electric discharge, thermal deformation hardly occurs during the hardening process, so that the finishing accuracy obtained by the cutting process is maintained even after the hardening process. As a result, a grinding process for correcting distortion after the curing process is not required, so that the mold manufacturing process can be simplified, the manufacturing cost can be reduced, and a mold having excellent dimensional accuracy can be stably manufactured. Furthermore, since the punching process can be performed with the optimum clearance, the appearance quality and dimensional accuracy of the shear surface of the product can be improved.

The present inventors manufactured a metal mold by the manufacturing method according to the present invention, and confirmed the surface condition of the contact portion of the metal mold with the plate material after punching by an experiment. Then, a comparison with a mold according to a conventional manufacturing method was performed, and the effect will be described below based on the comparison result. FIG. 6 is a drawing in which the tip portion surface of the punch manufactured by the manufacturing method of the third embodiment is magnified 50 times. FIG. 7 is a drawing in which the surface of the tip portion of a punch manufactured by grinding at least at the end of the finishing by a conventional manufacturing method is magnified 50 times. In FIG. 7, in a normal grinding process, a grinding wheel is brought into contact with a surface to be ground so that the rotating direction thereof is perpendicular to the axial direction of the punch. It can be confirmed that it occurs at right angles to the direction. Therefore, the direction of the grinding line is orthogonal to the direction in which the punch penetrates into the material during the punching process, so that the grinding line serves as a starting point to easily cause sticking, welding, or chipping of the punch. On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 6, in the hardening treatment according to the present invention, slight linear irregularities such as a grinding wheel or a cutting wheel of a grinding wheel remaining on the finished surface of the cutting edge of the punch due to the finishing grinding or cutting. However, it can be confirmed that by performing the discharge surface treatment, a very fine satin-like smooth surface can be obtained.

As described above, the hard ceramic film formed by the discharge surface treatment on the surface of the contact portion of the die for punch press with the plate material forms a very fine matte-like smooth surface and adheres to the die material. Since the force is strong, peeling of the film is unlikely to occur. The thickness of the coating is 5 μm to 10 μm,
A penetration hardened layer of about 5 μm is formed inside the material. In addition, since the surface hardness of the portion where the hard ceramic film is formed is very hard, ie, micro Vickers hardness (HV) 2500 to 3000, the abrasion resistance of the film is remarkably compared to the case of no surface hardening treatment or the case of PVD treatment. Is excellent. Further, since a very fine satin-like surface is formed on the surface of the coating film, it is easy to hold the lubricating oil on the surface. Therefore,
When a hard ceramic film is formed by the present discharge surface treatment, the occurrence of welding, seizure, peeling and chipping of a punch press die by punching can be extremely reduced. Also, punching can be performed with an appropriate amount of lubricating oil. As a result, the life of the mold can be lengthened, and punching can be performed by automatic operation for a long time due to unmanned operation.

As described above, in the present invention, after the raw material of the die for punch press is rough-processed, heat treatment such as quenching and tempering is performed, and then finish processing is performed. A hard ceramic film is formed by a discharge surface treatment on a contact portion of the cutting blade portion of the mold for the plate material. This hard ceramic film has a high resistance to high load impact and abrasion, and has excellent abrasion resistance. Therefore, welding, seizure, peeling, and chipping of the contact portion of the cutting edge portion of the punch press die with the plate material are eliminated, and a thick plate or a stainless steel plate can be continuously punched for a long time.
