Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost infrared-absorbing ink composition excellent in infrared absorbing properties and light resistance and capable of giving a cord mark hardly recognized visibly even when formed solely thereof. SOLUTION: The title ink composition contains 70.0-90.0 wt.% of an ultraviolet-curable resin component comprising a prepolymer, a monomer, a photopolymerization initiator, an auxiliary and the like and 10.0-30.0 wt.% of a coloring material comprising tin-doped indium oxide powder having no absorption in the visible region but absorption in the infrared region, and absorbs the infrared rays but not visible rays. It has high infrared absorptivity and is cheap and highly resistant. A copy-preventing mark formed thereof is difficult to visibly recognize and does not exert influence on the detection of the copy-preventing mark by infrared rays even if a printed layer is formed thereon with a process ink having absorption in the visible region and not in the infrared region.

2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, stock certificates, bonds, checks, gift certificates,
As a means for mechanically reading information described in securities such as lottery tickets, commuter passes, etc., a machine-readable code mark such as a bar code or an OCR character is often provided. There is a type in which a code mark is formed on a reflecting base material surface using black ink containing carbon black or the like that absorbs light in the near infrared region.

[0003] For example, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 58-45999 discloses the use of infrared reflectivity and infrared absorbency of white ink and black ink to provide mechanically readable information in the form of a pattern such as a bar code. It describes that a mark is applied to a medium or the like, the mark is scanned by irradiating the mark with infrared light, and the recorded information is read by binarizing the intensity of the reflected infrared light. It describes that a visible light is shielded so that information is not read illegally, and a concealing layer that transmits infrared rays is formed to prevent the information from being easily read by visible light.

However, color copiers have made remarkable progress in recent years, and if these copiers are used, the above-mentioned securities can be copied almost in the same manner as genuine products. Therefore, it has been studied to make copying completely impossible. However, since it is difficult to completely prevent copying, it is necessary to register a copy prevention mark in the copying machine itself, and when the printed matter provided with the copy protection mark is copied in the copying machine, the copying machine itself is used. Warning means have been proposed to prevent copying before the copying function is stopped or an accurate copying is not performed when the copy recognition mark is automatically recognized.
However, because the copy protection mark is visible, it is possible to rectify the mark itself, conceal the mark, divide the mark so that it is divided, and copy and join together so that the copy protection skill does not work. There is a problem.

Therefore, as a means for making it invisible, a method using a concealed layer for blocking light of a specific wavelength as described above or a method which itself has little absorption in the visible light region are used. In addition, having absorption in the other wavelength region, particularly, heat ray absorbing glass or infrared absorbing glass is crushed as an infrared absorbing material, and pigmented material is contained in the ink to form a code mark as described above, Since absorption in the terrestrial light region is small, and it is difficult to see, it has been considered as an effective means for forgery, alteration, falsification, and the like.

[0006] However, although the absorption in the visible light region is reduced, the absorption in the infrared region is inferior to that of the conventional black ink containing carbon black or the like. When the material is made into printing ink and the above-mentioned code mark is formed using the same, it is necessary to increase the film thickness in order to improve the absorption in the infrared region. There is a disadvantage that a step is generated, and the presence of the code mark can be easily recognized. If the concealing layer is provided as in the former case, not only the light of a specific wavelength is blocked but also the copy existing in the lower layer. They have drawbacks that may affect the reading of prevention marks, so these are effective methods for preventing forgery, falsification, and tampering. It can not be said enough.

In general, organic dyes such as phthalocyanine and naphthalocyanine are known to be very expensive. In terms of resistance, in terms of using an organic compound, the light resistance is not particularly strong in practice.
Therefore, even if an infrared-absorbing ink is produced using the above-mentioned materials, it is not worth the cost or is uneasy in terms of durability.

The ink of Example 1, the ink of Comparative Example 1, and a commercially available black process ink (FDOLTC manufactured by Hoshiro Toyo Ink Mfg. Co., Ltd.) were printed in the same manner as in Example 1, and then subjected to a fade meter (suga test). The light resistance remaining ratio of the printed matter was determined by a continuous irradiation test of carbon arc using a machine manufactured by Koki Co., Ltd.).

As shown in FIG. 3, the printed matter using the infrared-absorbing ink of the present invention has much stronger lightfastness than the conventional ink using an organic dye such as phthalocyanine. It was also found that the ink had a light resistance comparable to that of black ink using carbon.

As described above, the infrared-absorbing ink composition of the present invention is obtained by pulverizing heat-absorbing glass or infrared-absorbing glass as a conventional infrared-absorbing material, and forming the pigment into ink. Infrared absorption is higher than that of, and it is cheaper and more resistant than inks using naphthalocyanine dyes, making the anti-copy mark formed harder to see and absorbing light in the visible light range. In addition, even if a printing layer made of a process ink with little absorption is provided in the infrared region, it does not affect the detection of the copy protection mark by infrared light. Further, the infrared absorbing ink composition of the present invention can be used as a transfer layer of a thermal transfer ribbon provided with a copy preventive mark or a printed matter provided with a print layer capable of detecting infrared rays, or a mark capable of detecting infrared rays, as an ink.
