2. Description of the Related Art As a conventional method for controlling the light emission amount of a flash used for photographing a camera, there is a control method called an FM system. In this control method, the flash emission amount can be calculated based on the distance from the subject, the aperture, and the film sensitivity. The aperture is determined manually or automatically, and the film sensitivity is determined by the film. For this reason, the optimal light emission amount is calculated by calculating the distance to the subject from the position of the photographing lens where the subject is in focus.

As another method, there is a control method called a dimming method. In this control method, a light receiving element is provided at a position corresponding to each part of the divided shooting screen, and the light emission is stopped when the light receiving amount of the light receiving element in the part where the subject exists becomes the optimal exposure amount for the film. It is.

According to the FM method, the amount of light emission is determined according to the distance to the subject. If the distance measurement accuracy is poor, an error occurs and an appropriate amount of light cannot be obtained. Particularly when the distance to the subject is long or when the angle is wide, the range of the photographing lens position in which focusing is achieved by focusing is wide, so that the error in the distance to the subject obtained from the photographing lens position may be large, which is favorable. Shooting is not performed.

Further, when a filter having a low transmittance is attached to a photographic lens or a flash, the amount of light reflected from a subject and reaching the film is reduced with respect to the amount of emitted light. There is a problem that is not done.

According to the dimming method, if the reflectance of the object is different, the amount of light received by the light receiving element is different. Therefore, the light emission amount is calculated based on the assumption that the object has a predetermined reflectance. Therefore, for example, when the subject is white, the reflectance is large, so that the amount of light emission is less than an appropriate value, and the image is blackish. When the subject is black, the reflectance is small, and the amount of light is more than the appropriate value, and the image is whitish. .

As a method for solving the above problem, there is a method called a dimming control method using test light emission (hereinafter, referred to as "test light emission method"). This method performs test flash based on the above-mentioned FM system, determines the difference in the reflectance of the subject from the amount of light received by the light receiving element, calculates the amount of correction of the amount of light emission, and corrects the flash during film exposure to emit flash light. It is.

However, according to the test light emission method,
After the release operation is started, a test flash is performed to calculate the optimal amount of light emission, and then the shutter is opened and exposure is performed with flash emission, so there is a time lag between the release operation and exposure. Occurs. For this reason, when the subject is a sports photograph or the like of a moving object, there is a problem that the subject position in the shooting screen is shifted and a photo opportunity is missed.

The moving shaft 15 is provided with a gear 15a, and the DV counter 17 can read the rotation angle of the gear 17a meshing with the gear 15a. When the focus lens 2a comes into contact with the contact plate 16, the photographing lens 2 is focused on infinity, and the amount of movement of the focus lens 2a from the position where it comes into contact with the contact plate 16 is determined. The distance from the subject is calculated based on the value read from the DV counter 17.

A photographing lens 2 provided with a DV encoder 13 provided with a plurality of terminals 13a at predetermined intervals is generally commercially available. In this case, the focus lens 2a
When the terminals 13a are short-circuited by the switch member 2b provided in the camera, the position of the focus lens 2a can be detected by the lens CPU 14 and the distance to the subject can be calculated. The detection accuracy of the position of the focus lens 2a by the DV counter 17 is the measurement of the relative distance from the position of the focus lens 2a that is focused on infinity, and the screw portions 15b and 2c and the gears 15a and 17a.
The detection error increases due to the backlash and the like.

The detection accuracy of the position of the focus lens 2a by the DV encoder 13 is good because the absolute position of the focus lens 2a is detected. Therefore, the measurement error of the distance to the subject is smaller in the measurement by the DV encoder 13 than in the measurement by the DV counter 17.

The photographing mode changeover switch 21 can be switched between four photographing modes by two switches 21a and 21b. The switch 21a switches between a sports mode requiring quick shooting and a still body mode in which the subject is a still body. The switch 21b can be used to switch between correcting the light emission amount of the flash 3 based on the distance to the subject (distance correction mode) or not (distance correction mode). The flash 3 is also supplied with a light emission stop signal from the camera CPU 20 and information on a light emission mode for switching between the developed light and the slit light emission.

In step # 110, it is determined whether the required shutter speed TV is higher than the maximum shutter speed TVmax in the low-speed synchronized light emission.
At 0, the light emission amount LV of the high-speed tuning light emission is calculated. If the speed is low, the low-speed synchronized light emission is performed, so the control shifts to # 180 described later. In # 130, the calculated light emission amount LV
Is determined to be within the range in which light emission is possible, and if light emission is possible, it is determined in # 140 whether the switch 21a is in the sports mode or the still body mode. In the sports mode, it is determined in # 150 whether the switch 21b is in the mode with the distance correction or in the mode without the distance correction, and in the mode with the distance correction, the high-speed synchronized light emission is performed based on the luminous intensity LV calculated in # 120.

As described above, high-speed tuned light emission is performed by the FM method in which the luminous intensity LV is determined based on the information on the distance DV to the subject without using the information of the photometric sensor 9 and the light control sensor 8. In the case of the high-speed synchronized light emission in which the shutter speed TV is high and the shutter 12 is slit-shaped, since most of the flash light reflected from the object is blocked by the shutter 12, the distance from the object within the range in which the luminous intensity LV can emit light is obtained. Is short (DV is small).

The measurement accuracy of the distance DV to the subject based on the position of the focus lens 2a can be measured with higher accuracy when the distance is shorter, so that the error from the appropriate value of the flash emission amount is small. Accordingly, in the distance correction mode, it can be determined that a filter or the like is not attached to the flash 3 or the photographing lens 2. Therefore, in the sport mode, photographing by the FM method without performing the calculation of the test flash or the light control method is performed. It is possible to secure the accuracy of the light emission amount and the quick shooting performance.

If it is determined in step # 150 that there is no distance correction mode, it is conceivable that a filter or the like is attached to the flash 3 or the photographing lens 2, and it is necessary to perform flash emission using a light control method. At this time, since the light reflected on the film F is unstable because the shutter 12 has a slit shape, high-speed synchronized light emission cannot be performed. Therefore # 1
At 65, the shutter speed TV is replaced by TVmax, and the difference is corrected by the value of the aperture AV, and then the low-speed synchronized light emission is controlled by the dimming method shown in FIG.

Returning to FIG. 14, when the weight value of the measured value of each element of the light control element 8 is obtained, the current generated from the light control elements R0 to R3 is limited in accordance with the weight values WR0 to WR3 (# 710), a low-speed tuning light emission is performed in # 720. In step # 970, an error value ERR indicating the magnitude of the error in the distance measurement is obtained according to the error value calculation flowchart shown in FIG. In the figure, at step # 800, the focal length fl of the photographing lens 2 and the distance DV from the subject detected by the DV counter 17 or the DV encoder 13 are obtained. In step # 810, a β value given by β = fl / 2 ^ (dv / 2) is obtained. In step # 820, the distance DV to the subject is determined by the DV encoder 1.

In the case of the DV encoder 13, # 83
The error value ERR is calculated by the graph of 0, and in the case of the DV counter 17, the error value ERR is calculated by the graph of # 840.
Calculate RR. The horizontal axis of each graph indicates fl × β, and the vertical axis indicates the error value ERR. Here, fl × β is (focal length) 2 / (distance to subject), and when the distance to the subject is short or the focal length is long (wide-angle side), the error value ERR becomes large. Therefore, the error of the distance measurement is large.

Returning to FIG. 16, the calculation distance DVli (i = 0,6) of the portion corresponding to the photometric elements Q6 to Q8 and the dimming element R0 is used.
Since the difference between .about.8) and the detected distance DV to the subject is caused by the reflectance of the subject, if the difference is smaller than a predetermined value, it can be determined that the reflectance of the subject in that portion is close to the predetermined reflectance. However, since there is an error in the distance measurement, when the error (ERR) is large, the predetermined value is determined by the error value ERR so that the predetermined value also becomes large.

Returning to FIG. 12, the weight value WTi, the calculated distance DVi (i = 0, 6 to 8), and the distance correction amount SFT are obtained by the test light emission (# 330). When the switch 21b is in the distance correction mode, the weight value WTi (i

This is because the weighting value WTi (i = 0, 6 to 8) is determined so as to be optimal at the time of a dimming method (low-speed tuning light emission control by test light emission) in which light is measured by the light adjusting element 8 after test light emission described later. The present control method is adapted to the high-speed tuning light emission control.

At step # 180, it is determined whether or not the switch 21b is in the sport mode. When the switch is in the sport mode, at step # 190, it is determined whether or not the mode is with the distance correction. In the mode without the distance correction, the test flash cannot be performed because the mode is the sport mode, so that the low-speed tuning control by the dimming method shown in FIG. 14 is performed.
Low-speed tuning light emission control is performed by the FM combination method. In this control, the FM method based on the light emission amount IV and the light control method of performing light emission until the current from the light control element 8 reaches a value corresponding to a predetermined exposure amount are switched according to the distance measurement accuracy.

At the same time, the optimum exposure amount for the film is determined by, for example, the film sensitivity SV, the current value of the light control element 8 corresponding to the film sensitivity SV is determined, and the timing of generating the light emission stop signal by the light control method is determined. At this time, the film sensitivity SV

Then, at # 630, low-speed synchronized light emission is performed, and light emission is stopped by the faster signal of the light emission stop signal by the FM method or the light emission stop signal by the light control method.
As described above, when the exposure amount is corrected based on the distance measurement information (ERR) and the light emission stop signal of the dimming method is delayed,
When the measurement accuracy of the distance is high, by setting the correction value SFTtl to 0 and performing no correction, appropriate light emission can be performed.

In FIGS. 11 and 12, test light emission is performed in the same manner, but in high-speed tuning light emission control (FIG. 12),
The amount of light emission is controlled by weighting the photometric element 9 based on the detection result of the photometric element 9 at the time of the test light emission. To control the amount of light emission.

At this time, the weighting value WQi (i = 0, 6 to 8) of the photometric element 9 and the weighting value WRi of the light adjusting element 8 at substantially the same position are obtained.
(i = 0 to 3). This is because the sensitivity of the photometric detection of the system is different, and the sensitivity is low because the light control element 8 detects the light reflected on the film. Therefore, weighting is performed so that the photometric sensitivity by the photometric element 9 is equivalent to the photometric sensitivity by the photochromic element 8, so that the same amount of light is emitted during high-speed tuned light emission and at low-speed tuned light emission. The finished condition is the same.

Table 1 summarizes the light emission control methods according to the above description. In the static body mode, test light emission is performed to improve the accuracy of the light emission amount. In the sport mode and the mode with distance correction, when the shutter speed with high distance measurement accuracy is high, the accuracy of the light emission amount is secured by the FM method and the quick shooting performance is secured, and when the shutter speed is slow, the distance to the subject is increased. By switching between the FM system and the dimming system in response, the error in the light emission amount can be reduced.

According to the third and fourth aspects of the present invention, when the flash is fired when the shutter is in the slit state, most of the flash light reflected from the object is blocked by the shutter, and the luminous intensity is within the range in which the light can be emitted. Since the distance to the subject is short, the distance measurement error is small and the error between the flash emission amount and the appropriate value is small. Therefore, in the sports mode in which the movement of the subject is fast, it is possible to secure the accuracy of the light emission amount and the quick shooting performance.

According to the seventh aspect of the present invention, when the light amount of the flash is varied according to the distance information to the subject, the variable amount of the light emission amount is changed according to the magnitude of the error in the distance measurement.
