2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, as a structure of an electric deionized water producing apparatus, a so-called plate-and-frame type in which a plurality of sets of anion exchange membranes, cation exchange membranes, and spacers are alternately arranged has been known. There is known a spiral type in which an ion exchange membrane composed of a membrane and a cation exchange membrane is spirally wound (for example, JP-A-6-7645). Plate and frame type
In general, a simple structure can be used, but the pressure resistance is low, and there is a possibility that leakage of liquid to the outside and short-circuiting of current due to the contact of the leaked liquid with the electrode may occur.

On the other hand, a spiral type electric deionized water producing apparatus usually has an advantage that liquid leakage to the outside can be almost completely prevented because the spiral type element is housed in a cylindrical pressure vessel. I have. However, a set of ion exchange membranes consisting of an anion exchange membrane and a cation exchange membrane is wound spirally to form an element, and the desalination in which the water to be treated flows between the anion exchange membrane and the cation exchange membrane. Since the chamber has a structure in which a concentrated water is passed between the winding layers of the ion exchange membrane, a concentrated chamber is formed.
As disclosed in Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication, even if a single spiral desalination chamber is formed by winding a set of anion exchange membrane and cation exchange membrane, the sealing of the chamber and the fixing of the membrane are considerably complicated. Structure. If a plurality of desalting chambers are provided by using a plurality of sets of anion exchange membranes and cation exchange membranes, the structure becomes further complicated, and the structure disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 6-7645 is not practical. Near impossible. If it is forcibly performed, a large space is required for the seal and the membrane fixing structure, so that the space inside the pressure vessel is not utilized as a space for deionization.

Further, the structure disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 6-7645 basically has a structure in which the flow path of the water to be treated and the flow path of the concentrated water are both in the same direction, that is, the wound ion exchange membrane. However, the inlet and outlet of the water to be treated and the inlet and outlet of the concentrated water must be formed at the outer and inner peripheral ends of the spiral element. In addition to the complexity, the degree of freedom in design is extremely small, and the volume occupied by these parts in the pressure vessel is increased as described above, and the effective space for deionization is reduced accordingly.

Further, in general, the electric deionized water producing apparatus has an appropriate flow path length of the deionization chamber in view of the relationship between the flow path pressure loss (drainage pressure difference) in the deionization chamber and the desalination performance. Increasing the flow path length improves the desalination performance but increases the differential pressure. Shortening the flow path length reduces the differential pressure but decreases the desalination performance. Therefore, in the actual design, it is necessary to consider the relationship between these pressure differences and desalination performance, and to set an appropriate flow path length.
In particular, when a structure as described in JP-A-6-7645 is adopted in a spiral-type electric deionized water producing apparatus, it is difficult to set an appropriate flow path length because the degree of freedom of design is extremely small. May be. In particular,
Since only one set of anion exchange membrane and cation exchange membrane can be wound, it is extremely difficult to appropriately set the flow path length while keeping the pressure difference (pressure loss) in the desalting chamber small.
Further, it is almost impossible to suppress both the differential pressure in the desalting chamber and the differential pressure in the concentrating chamber. Furthermore, it is actually difficult to secure a large effective space for deionization in the pressure vessel while taking these factors into consideration, as described above.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to greatly increase the degree of freedom in design by adopting a novel structure based on a new idea which has not been used in the past, and particularly by adopting a new structure with respect to the flow direction of each flow passage. In addition, a simple structure is possible, and especially, the flow path length of the water to be treated can be easily set to the optimum length in relation to the differential pressure, and a large space for deionization is secured even when housed in a pressure vessel. It is an object of the present invention to provide an electric deionized water producing apparatus suitable for a spiral type.

[0009] In such a spiral type, the flow direction of the to-be-processed water flow path is set to a direction along the spiral shape of the spiral body, and the flow direction of the concentrated water flow path is set to a direction along the axis of the spiral body. The flow direction of the two flow paths can be set to a direction substantially orthogonal to the flow path. Then, the inlet of the water to be treated is opened at the outer peripheral end of the spiral body formed by the anion exchange membrane and the cation exchange membrane, and the outlet is opened at the inner peripheral end, and the outlet is provided at the center of the spiral body. Can be configured to communicate with the inside of the device.
In this configuration, it is also possible to reverse the flow direction of the water to be treated by setting the inner peripheral end of the spiral body communicating with the central pipe as the inlet of the water to be treated and the outer peripheral end thereof as the outlet.

In forming a flow path of the water to be treated between the anion exchange membrane and the cation exchange membrane, a pair of the anion exchange membrane and the cation exchange membrane are opposed to each other located on both sides of the flow path of the water to be treated. By closing the two sides by bonding, fusion, or the like, a flow path that allows water to flow between the remaining two opposing sides can be formed. Can be sealed.

[0013] It is also possible to form a desalination chamber not filled with an ion exchanger. For example, the opposing surface of the anion exchange membrane and / or the cation exchange membrane is formed in a concavo-convex surface, and both ion exchange membranes are brought into direct contact via the concavo-convex surface, and a gap is formed between the two ion exchange membranes by the concavo-convex surface. It is also possible to adopt a structure in which a flow path is formed. The uneven surface and the flow path are formed by forming a plurality of protrusions or protrusions on the surface of one ion exchange membrane, or forming protrusions or protrusions on the surface of one ion exchange membrane and facing the other ion exchange membrane. The groove can be formed by forming a concave portion or a groove in the groove, contacting the protrusion or the protrusion with the concave portion or the groove, and forming a gap serving as a flow path therebetween.

In the electric deionized water producing apparatus according to the present invention as described above, since the flow direction of the treated water flow path and the flow direction of the concentrated water flow path are set to cross each other, The inlet and outlet of the treated water flow path and the inlet and outlet of the concentrated water flow path do not overlap, and the seal and membrane fixing structure at each inlet / outlet can be simplified, greatly increasing the design freedom of the entire device. Increase. In addition, the simplification of the structure can reduce the space occupied by the entrance / exit portion of each flow path, thereby increasing the effective space for deionization by the ion exchange membrane. In particular, in a spiral type electric deionized water producing apparatus, the deionizing space in the pressure vessel can be greatly expanded.

Further, since the structure can be simplified and the degree of freedom of design can be greatly increased, the length of the desalination chamber can be adjusted to an optimum length while considering the relationship between the length of the passage and the differential pressure (pressure loss). Also becomes easy. Further, by making the concentrated water flow path along the axis of the spiral body in the spiral type, the pressure difference in the concentrated water flow path can be greatly reduced.

Further, in the spiral type electric deionized water producing apparatus, since a complicated and large-sized mechanism is not required for sealing and fixing the spiral body, conventionally, a pair of anion exchange membrane and cation exchange membrane is conventionally practically used. In the present invention, it is possible to wind a plurality of sets of ion exchange membranes. As a result, a plurality of spiral desalting chambers can be formed, and the desalination performance of the entire apparatus can be improved, and the differential pressure (pressure loss) of the entire desalination chamber can be suppressed. Therefore, setting of the optimal flow path length of the desalting chamber in consideration of the differential pressure is further facilitated.

The electric deionized water producing apparatus thus constructed is constructed and operated in a module as shown in FIG. 9, for example. The spiral element 1 is accommodated in the pressure vessel 11, and is fixed and supported on the inner peripheral surface of the pressure vessel 11 in a state where the outer peripheral portion is sealed by the partition walls 81 and 82. However, the downstream partition wall 82 is provided with an escape passage 83 so that a small amount of water to be treated can leak, so that the electrode water on the outer peripheral side can be flowed little by little.

In the spiral element 1, the flow direction of the to-be-processed water flow path 23 and the flow direction of the concentrated water flow path 26 are set to cross (orthogonal) each other, and the entrances and exits of each flow path can be formed at different parts. Therefore, there is no need for a complicated special mechanism for sealing and demounting at each of the entrances and exits as in the conventional structure. Therefore, the structure of the entire apparatus is simplified, and the degree of freedom in design is greatly increased. In addition, a large space for the spiral element 1 (or the spiral body 3) can be easily secured in the pressure vessel 11, a large space can be secured for the desalination treatment, and the desalination performance can be improved. If a plurality of sets of ion exchange membranes as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5 are used, the performance can be further improved.

Further, since the degree of freedom in design is greatly improved with a simple structure, it is easy to set the optimum flow path length in consideration of the relationship between the flow path length of the desalting chamber and the differential pressure. .

In the structure shown in FIG. 9, the water 6 to be treated is introduced from the side of the spiral element 1 through the introduction pipe 84. However, the water 6 is directly introduced by the introduction pipe 87 penetrating the pressure vessel 11. It is also possible to introduce it to the outer peripheral portion of the spiral element 1.

Furthermore, in the configuration shown in FIG. 9, the concentrated raw water 9 and the to-be-treated water 6 are separately introduced, but they may be used as common raw water. For example, as shown in FIG. 10, common raw water 92 is introduced to one end surface side of the spiral element 1 through an introduction pipe 91, the introduced common raw water 92 is diverted, and a part of the common raw water 92 is treated as water to be treated. And the remainder can be fed into the concentrated water flow path from the end face of the spiral element 1 as concentrated water. Other steps are the same as those shown in FIG.

Further, although not shown, in the configuration of the spiral-type electric deionized water producing apparatus according to the present invention, the arrangement of the to-be-treated water flow path and the concentrated water flow path can be interchanged. That is, by setting the inlet of the spiral concentrated water flow path formed by the spacer at the outer peripheral end of the spiral body and opening the inner peripheral end toward the inside of the central pipe, the flow direction of the concentrated water flow path can be changed. The direction follows the spiral shape. On the other hand, the inlet of the spiral water passage to be formed formed between the anion exchange membrane and the cation exchange membrane is set on one end face of the spiral body, and the outlet is set on the other end face, and desalination treatment is performed. The flow direction of the treated water to be treated is set to a direction along the axis of the spiral body. By doing so, the flow path differential pressure (pressure loss) of the water to be treated can be significantly reduced.
