Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable connector having high density and taking a small space. SOLUTION: Plural wire inserting holes 7..., 8..., and terminal inserting holes 9..., 10..., are provided at pitches of a1 equal to the pitch (a) for the connecting terminal 1 of a connector body 5 on two kinds of wire fixing plates 3, 4 so that they can be in communication with each other, and after inserting a covered wire 2 in each wire inserting hole 7, 8, the covered wire 2 is slantwise bent and fixed by moving the both wire fixing plates 3, 4 perpendicularly to an axis direction of the covered wire 2 and in a reverse direction. The U slit terminal 1 of the connector body 5 is then pressed in the terminal inserting holes 9, 10, and the bent part 2a of the covered wire is slantwise crimped in the slit part 1a of the U slit terminal 1 and connected.

In order to achieve the above object, a method of connecting a U-slit terminal according to the present invention comprises the steps of: forming a plurality of wire insertion holes at the same pitch as the pitch of the U-slit terminal for connection of a connector body; After inserting the electric wire through each electric wire insertion hole of the two kinds of electric wire fixing plates provided in communication with each other, both electric wire fixing plates are moved in the direction perpendicular to the axial direction of the electric wire in the opposite direction to bend the electric wire. Along with fixing, when the two electric wire fixing plates are moved in the opposite direction, the connector main body is inserted into a plurality of terminal insertion holes respectively provided in the two fixing plates so as to communicate coaxially at the bent portion of each electric wire. Each U-slit terminal is press-fitted, and a bent portion of each electric wire is obliquely crimp-connected to a slit portion of the U-slit terminal.

According to the present invention, since the connection to the U-slit terminal is made as described above, the connection direction to the U-slit terminal and the direction in which the insulated wire is drawn are the same axial direction. The wires have less influence on the arrangement of adjacent terminals, adjacent terminals and electric wire arrangement, and can reduce the required connection space in a plane compared to the conventional connection method. Enables the realization of cable connectors.
