Abstract

An electrolyser for performing electrochernical processes using at Least one plate-type cell element with casing, the casing being equipped with device for feeding the electrolysis current and the electrolysis feedstock a bar system for the electrolysis current and outlets for the electrolysis products and with an anode and a cathode, the anode and the cathode being separated from each other by a partition and being electrically connected to the rear wall of the respective casing, is used to produce a solution which, in combination with the simplest possible means, prevents the formation of foam. This is achieved by providing each cell element (2) with hydrophobic internals (12) in at least one semi-shell of the casing (3,4) separated by the partition (6).
