Claims

CLAIMS 1. Apparatus for decorating objects (2) by transferring ornamental motifs formed by sublimable inks onto sheet material (3), comprising support means (4) arranged to receive said objects, heating means (6) arranged to promote the sublimation of said inks and the transfer of said ornamental motifs towards said objects (2), vacuum promoting means arranged to create a depression adapted to favor the adhesion of said sheet material (3) to said objects (2), characterized in that said vacuum promoting means are such as to create said depression only between said sheet material (3) and said support means (4).

2. Apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said vacuum promoting means comprise suction table means (11) associated with said support means (4).

3. Apparatus according to claim 1, or 2, wherein said support means (4) comprise plate means (5) provided with a resting surface (5a) adapted to receive said objects (2)

4. Apparatus according to claim 3, when dependent on claim 2, wherein said suction table means (11) comprise air suction duct means (12) opening at said support surface (5a).

5. Apparatus according to one of the preceding claims, wherein said heating means (6) comprise envelope means (7) inside which a plurality of heating elements (8) are arranged to promote the sublimation of said inks and the transfer of said ornamental motifs from said sheet material (3) to said objects (2).

6. Apparatus according to claim 5, wherein said heating elements comprise electrical resistors (8).

7. Apparatus according to claim 5, or 6, in which said casing means (7) are movable between an upper rest position (X) in which they allow the positioning of said objects on said support means (4) and a position operating lower (Y) in which they bring said heating elements (8) to interact with said objects (2), and vice versa.

8. Apparatus according to claim 7, wherein for said casing means (7) there is also provided an intermediate position (Z) interposed between said upper rest position (X) and said lower operative position (Y).

9. Apparatus according to claim 7 or 8, and further comprising transfer means (9) arranged to move said casing means (7) between said upper rest position (X) and said lower operative position (Y).

10. Apparatus according to claim 9, when dependent on claim 8, wherein said transfer means (9) comprise guide means (10) arranged to move said casing means (7) between said upper rest position (X) and said intermediate position (Z), and vice versa.

11. Apparatus according to claim 9 when dependent on claim 8, or according to claim 10, wherein said transfer means comprise handling means arranged to transfer said envelope means (7) from said intermediate position (Z) to said lower position operational (X), and vice versa.

Apparatus according to one of the preceding claims, and further comprising membrane means (13) which can be associated externally to said sheet material (3) and adapted to provide a pneumatic seal to allow said vacuum promoting means to suck the air present between said sheet material (3) and said support means (4).

Apparatus according to claim 12, and further comprising frame means (14) arranged to transfer said membrane means (13) from a raised position (A) in which they do not interfere with said objects (2) to a lowered position (B ) in which they cover said sheet material (3) previously positioned on said objects (2), and vice versa.

Apparatus according to claim 13, wherein said frame means (14) comprises frame means 15 arranged to tension said membrane means (13).

15. Apparatus according to claim 14, wherein sealing means (16) are associated with a lower portion of said frame means (15), arranged to form a pneumatic seal between said membrane means (13) and said support means ( 4).

Apparatus according to claim 15, wherein said sealing means (16) comprise cushion means made of deformable material.

Apparatus according to one of the preceding claims, wherein said sheet material (3) is made of a material which is substantially impermeable to gases.

18. Apparatus according to claim 17, wherein said material substantially impermeable to gases comprises a plastic film having a surface suitable for being placed in contact with said objects (2) on which said ornamental motifs are directly impressed.

19. Apparatus according to claim 17 or 18, wherein said plastic film is such as to maintain good mechanical properties at the sublimation temperature of said sublimable inks.

Apparatus according to one of claims 17 to 19, wherein said plastic film comprises an elastically deformable disposable film.

21. Apparatus according to one of claims 17 to 20, wherein said plastic film is shaped so as to constitute a tape suitable for being unwound from a reel to be brought to interact with said objects (2).
