La presente domanda di brevetto per invenzione industriale ha per oggetto un apparecchio elettronico dotato di video da utilizzare per la lettura di testi o per la visualizzazione delle immagini contenuti nei CD-rom. The present patent application for industrial invention relates to an electronic device equipped with video to be used for reading texts or for viewing the images contained in CD-roms.

Come è noto sempre di più va diffondendosi l’uso dei CD-rom come supporti di testi o immagini; fino ad ora la lettura o la visione delle informazioni testuali e figurative contenute in questi particolari supporti elettronica può essere compiuta esclusivamente tramite computers. As is well known, the use of CD-roms as supports for texts or images is becoming more and more widespread; up to now, the reading or viewing of the textual and figurative information contained in these particular electronic media can only be carried out by means of computers.

Ciò significa innanzitutto che coloro che non dispongano di simili dispositivi elettronici rimangono esclusi dalla possibilità di utilizzare i CD-rom; dall’altro lato è pure evidente che tutti coloro che siano esclusivamente interessati alla possibilità di consultare le informazioni contenute in un CD-rom, sono comunque obbligati a sostenere i considerevoli costi necessari per l’acquisto di un computer completo, magari fornito di tutta una gamma di funzioni che, per lo specifico utente, potrebbero rivelarsi del tutto superflue. Va detto ancora che l’ingombro ed il peso degli attuali computers, compresi quelli portatili di piccole dimensioni, rendono in pratica estremamente scomodo, se non impossibile, una consultazione occasionale ed itinerante dei medesimi CD-rom. Proprio allo scopo di ovviare a tutti gli anzidetti inconvenienti è stato realizzato il dispositivo elettronico secondo il trovato, il quale ha come specifica ed esclusiva funzionalità quella di consentire la lettura di testi o la visualizzazione di immagini contenute nei CD-rom. Precisely in order to obviate all the aforementioned drawbacks, the electronic device according to the invention has been provided, which has the specific and exclusive function of allowing the reading of texts or the display of images contained in the CD-roms.

Si tratta di un dispositivo che presenta una vera e propria struttura di libro elettronico, in quanto composta da due pannelli incernierati assieme, da aprire e chiudere a mo’ di libro. Uno solo o entrambi questi pannelli sono dotati di un video avente preferibilmente le dimensioni di una pagina di un libro cartaceo, sul quale possono comparire le informazioni contenute nel CD-rom inserito entro il dispositivo elettronico in parola che all’uopo risulta dotato di un convenzionale drive per CD. In questo senso si può dunque affermare che il dispositivo in questione abbia ingombri contenuti, peso limitato e quindi risulti idoneo anche ad essere utilizzato dall’utente al di fuori del proprio ambiente domestico o professionale, quindi magari in vacanza, in viaggio, a scuola o in altre simili occasionali situazioni. Considerando peraltro che tale dispositivo ha l’unica funzione di leggere CD-rom, si comprende come la sua dotazione di componenti elettronici risulti limitata a questa specifica funzione, a tutto vantaggio del contenimento del suo costo di produzione. Furthermore, considering that this device has the only function of reading CD-rom, it is understood how its supply of electronic components is limited to this specific function, to the advantage of containing its production cost.

Per tale motivo il lettore elettronico in questione risulta appetibile da parte di numerosi utenti, primi tra tutti quelli che non intendano affrontare i costi di acquisto e le difficoltà di gestione tipici di un vero e proprio computer, ma certamente anche da parte di coloro che, pur disponendo già di un computer, siano comunque interessati al dispositivo elettronico secondo il trovato per le sue doti di grande maneggevolezza e di facile trasportabilità. For this reason, the electronic reader in question is attractive to many users, first of all those who do not intend to face the purchase costs and management difficulties typical of a real computer, but certainly also by those who, even if they already have a computer, they are in any case interested in the electronic device according to the invention due to its characteristics of great handling and easy portability.

Va peraltro precisato che il lettore elettronico secondo il trovato può essere facilmente interfacciato con un computer tradizionale, magari anche privo di lettore di CD-rom; ciò magari al fine di compiere operazioni particolari quali la stampa del contenuto del CD o magari soltanto la sua visualizzazione sul video di maggiori dimensioni in dotazione all’ anzidetto computer. Per quanto riguarda poi le modalità di funzionamento del lettore secondo il trovato, si può innanzitutto ipotizzare che il testo del CD-rom compaia in successione sui suoi due video affiancati, come se questi fossero due pagine successive di un libro cartaceo. Una volta che l’utente abbia completato la lettura di queste due “pagine” potrà, tramite un opportuno comando, provvedere a sostituirle sui due anzidetti video con i successivi passi del testo del CD-rom, i quali così andranno a comporre le due “pagine” successive. In alternativa si potrebbe invece prevedere che il testo contenuto nel CD-rom possa scorrere sulla coppia di video in dotazione al lettore in parola, secondo quanto avviene per i titoli di coda di certi programmi televisivi; essendo previsto naturalmente che il lettore elettronico in questione permetta di adeguare la velocità di scorrimento alle specifiche esigenze e capacità dell’utente. Additional commands supplied with the device according to the invention can also allow the user to skip text passages or go directly to the desired passage, as well as enlarge or transform the characters.

Resta inteso che, nell’ambito della presente idea inventiva, il dispositivo in questione potrebbe essere realizzato anche in un versione munita di un solo video; tuttavia il pannello che supporta il video medesimo potrebbe comunque essere associato ad un secondo conforme pannello, privo di video e quindi fungente solamente da copertina. Con riferimento alla figura 1, il lettore secondo il trovato si compone di due pannellini (la e lb), ciascuno dotato di un rispettivo video (V), incernierati a mo’ di libro; nel palmellino di destra (lb) è prevista la tastiera di comando (2), nonché il drive (3) per il CD-rom. Claims

CLAIMS 1) CD-rom reader characterized by the fact of being composed of two panels (la and lb) equipped with respective videos (V) and hinged like a book, one of which carries the drive (3) for the CD- rom and the keyboard (2) to set the preferred CD-rom text playback modes on the videos themselves.

2) CD-rom reader characterized by the fact of being composed of two panels (4a and 4b) hinged like a book, one (4a) of which acts as a simple cover, while the other (4b) incorporates a video (V) and is equipped with the drive (3) for the CD-rom, as well as the keyboard (2) to set the preferred playback modes of the CD-rom text on the video itself.
