Abstract

Electronic switch which monitors the presence of water at the pump inlet (8) and simultaneously controls whether the water level of the reservoir (b) is at the desired level. It sets the pump into operation only when there is water at its inlet and the tank is not full, stopping its operation under any other circumstances. The resolution of this problem is achieved, based on the phenomenon of conductivity in natural water, by using two active electrodes and one common electrode in conjunction with an electronic switch for which electrical signals from the electrodes activate or deactivate a small relay switch which is the final control component for the pump motor. The electronic switch is comprised of two levels of operation, the basic element of which is an operational amplifier integrated circuit (IC1, IC2). Activation can be delayed by 0 to 5 minutes and adjusted to requirements, whereas deactivation is instantaneous. The purpose of the electronic switch is for automation of pump complexes by controlling two points, the water inlet and reservoir level. It has the potential to operate controlling only the presence of water at the pump inlet, thereby assuring optimal operating conditions for the pumping station or, to operate by only controlling the water level of a reservoir.
