997,751. Combine-harvesters. H. CLAAS. Feb. 10, 1964 [March 5, 1963], No. 5474/64. Heading A1F. In a combine-harvester in which various adjustable parts (e.g. the reel, and cutterplatform) are hydraulically-operated and the steering is also hydraulically-actuated, the hydraulic circuit comprises a pump 28 and two control valves 23, 24 in series, the valves controlling respectively the steering device 22 and rams 13, 15, 17, 18 for adjusting the other parts, each controlvalve being bridged by a relief-valve 34, 35 capable of opening at the maximum partial pressure required to operate the valve it bridges, the working pressure of the pump being at least equal to the sum of the partial pressures for the two control valves. In the form shown, the device 22 is a ram operating upon the rear axle of the combine, which is self-propelled. There is neegligible pressure-drop across the valves 23, 24 while the devices they control are inoperative, so that the pump 28 works at full pressure only when several adjustable devices are simultaneously operated.
