A fastening component comprises a crankedlever 4 adapted to be mounted on one surface of a wall 2 of a vehicle superstructure so that the pivot axis of the lever is normal to said surface and a link 7 pivoted to the lever, the link having a part adapted to fulcrum on a co-operating fastening component so that during movement between releasing and fastening position of the link and lever the line through the pivot axis of the link and its fulcrum has to be moved from one side of the lower pivot axis to the other. As shown the fastener component comprises a mounting plate 3 which supports on a pivot 5, the lever 4 which, in use, moves parallel to the wall 2. The link 7 is pivoted to the lever 4 near the end of one arm and carries a shackle 10 which is engageable with the co-operating component which comprises a hook 12 carried by a base plate 15 which is shown attached to a drop end 1 of the vehicles. The base plate has an abutment 16 which engages the wall 2 to prevent lateral stresses on the fastening. In a modification the member 7 is formed with a cowl which helps to prevent earth becoming lodged between the link 7 and the lever 4. In a further modification the link 7 instead of being provided with a shackle terminates in a hook which engages a pin of the co-operating component. In a further modification two of the components which each includes the lever and link and in which each link terminates in a hook and which components are mirror images of each other are engageable with respective pins of a common co-operating component which in use is attached to a central stanchion of a platform track to fasten two aligned side-walls each of which carries one of the link and lever components.
