Abstract
990,199. Delay lines. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd., and H. W. SMITH. July 25, 1963 [Aug. 22, 1962], No. 32256/62. Heading H1W. A delay line 6 is secured within a split met a collar 1 which is in turn secured to a sheetmetal member 15 so as to surround an aperture 19 in the sheet, the connection lead of the delay line being taken through the aperture to a terminal 18 on the remote side of the sheet. The delay line consists of an inner winding of enamelled copper wire upon a flexible ferromagnetic core. It is surrounded by, and insulated from, a wire sheath which is connected to the flange 2 of the collar 1. In order to prevent the effect of a short-circuited turn around the end of the delay line, both the collar and the flange are slit. The flange 2 is separated from the sheet 15 by an insulating layer 16 and a connection between the flange and the sheet is provided by a single conductive bolt. Other mounting bolts are made of insulating material. The inner winding is connected to an insulating terminal post 18 on the sheet 15. The end of the delay line may be held within the collar 1 by means of a binding 12.
