The engine of a motor vehicle, which may be transversely disposed, e.g. on a sub-frame, at the front of a vehicle, has three mounting rubbers 2, 3 and 4 securing the engine to the chassis or underframe and three telescopic, hydraulic dampers 5, 6 and 7 which control vertical and torsional vibrations. In a modification, Fig. 5, the damper 5 may be horizontally disposed at the top of the engine.
