To ensure of a substantially constant load demand on the power source of a mineralmining installation having a winning machine travelling along a conveyer, the machine at the ends of its travel along the conveyer operates suitable mechanical, electrical or hydraulic relays to operate control means associated with one or both of the two motors that separately drive either the conveyer or the haulage of the machine to cause resultant adjustment of the speeds of advance of the conveyer and the machine to maintain the load demand substantially constant. In the system shown the machine 2 operates through a limit switch 29 a relay 27 controlling a valve 25 connecting the pressure supply line 13 of the haulage motor 14 of machine 2 to piston cylinder units 20, 21 controlling the position of the cylinder blocks of axial piston motors 12, 14 of the conveyer and machine haulage, the output of the motors and therefore the speed of advance of the conveyer and the machine being dependent on the position of said blocks. A valve block 10 allows of pressure fluid being so delivered to the motors as to allow of both motors operating simultaneously and of reversal of drive direction of the motor 14. A variant of the hydraulic system shown is also described in detail.
