Abstract

980,336. Resilient mountings. FABBRICA ITALIANA MAGNETI MARELLI S.p.A. Dec. 27, 1961 [Dec. 31, 1960], No. 46183/61. Heading F2S. A resilient mounting C for securing an acoustic detector A within an opening 2 in the body B of a vehicle comprises a flexible annulus C which is made e.g. of rubber and has its outer and inner edges clamped respectively in overlapping relation with the corresponding inner and outer edges of the opening in the body B and the detector A by means of rigid trim rings 4, 5 and bolts 6, 7. The rings 4, 5, which are treated e.g. by chrome plating and have turned over edges, compress the edges of the annulus C when the bolts 6, 7 are tightened on to corresponding nuts and into aligned tapped holes in the peripheral edge portion of the detector. The adjacent edges of the rings 4, 5 are curved outward to receive between them a rib 11 on the outer face of the annulus the inner face of which is provided with a corresponding pair of concentric ribs 9 interconnected by equiangularly spaced radial ribs 10. A rigid ring or, as shown, annular sectors 8 distribute the load of the bolts 6 over a large area around the edge of the opening 2.
