[Also in Division H1] A dry shaver head is provided with means to cool at least a part of the surface of the head which, in use, is in contact with the user's skin. Peltier elements 11 in the walls of the headhousing are of Bi 2 Te 3 , alternately of P and N types, and are insulated from each other by synthetic material 12. The cold junctions, are plates 13, of good electrical conductivity, and the hot junctions are plates 14 which have cooling vanes 15 forming annular spaces 16 filled with a coolant material having a high electrical resistance, to avoid short circuiting, and melting near the ambient temperature without great change of volume. Electrical current for the elements is derived from the motor of the dry shaver, the stator being constructed as a transformer for the supply of current to the elements, and a rectifier being arranged in the housing of the apparatus. In modifications, the transformer and rectifier are incorporated in the plug of the apparatus, or, as shown in Fig. 3, a direct current generator 28, feeding the elements through conductors 29, 30, is mounted on the drive shaft 27 of the motor, the shafts 31, driving the cutters, having vanes 32 which blow cool air along the hot junctions 33. Part of the top surface of the cold joints is thermally insulated to control heat transmission from the skin and the remainder of the top surface is electrically insulated by lacquering. In further modifications, the shaving head is provided with a duct connected to the main water supply or to a container of rapidly evaporating substance.
