Abstract

975,206. Advancing mine roof supports. HUGH WOOD & CO. Ltd. Aug. 28, 1963 [Aug. 31, 1962], No. 33586/62. Heading EIE. A prop 10 pivotally mounted on an advancing sledge 13 by a mounting 11 has its pivot bolts released from the load to which the prop is subjected in use by transmitting same to the sides of the sledge. To this end the mounting 11 is pivoted with slight play to side lugs 12 of the sledge recessed at 18 to fixingly receive same, see also Fig. 4 (not shown). The prop is positioned on its mounting 11 by stops 21, 22 and a bolt 23.
