Abstract

This invention concerns a computer interface card devices for light guns. This interface card can be inserted into a slot of the mother board of a personal computer. It provides multiple ports to connect light guns of computer games/video games and is compatible with video cards and monitors of different vendors. The video card connects to the interface card and monitor separately so the interface card can obtain output signals from the video card and calculate the scanning positions of the light spot on the screen. When the light spot is detected by optical sensor through the lens in the front part of the light gun, the optical sensor generates analog signals and sends them to the light gun signal converter of the interface card. The light gun signal converter converts the analog signals into digital signals and triggers the x/y position recorder to record the current x/y coordinates, It then sends the signals corrected by error correction circuit to the data input/output position decoder. The game program can obtain the current x/y position of the light gun through the data input/output position decoder by a standard interface routine.
