Abstract
A heat-curable composition comprises a poly-epoxide derived from epichlorohydrin and bis(p-hydroxyphenyl) sulphone and a guanamine of the formula <FORM:0969257/C3/1> <FORM:0969257/C3/2> <FORM:0969257/C3/3> or <FORM:0969257/C3/4> where R1 is a phenyl, benzyl or aliphatic hydrocarbon radical containing up to 21 carbon atoms, R2 is an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical containing from 4 to 22 carbon atoms and R3 is a divalent hydrocarbon radical derived from a dimerised unsaturated fatty acid. Fillers e.g. glass fibres, clays, asbestos and metallic powders may be present in the compositions which may be partially reacted to a <\>gB-stage<\>a resin. In the examples, an epoxy resin derived from epichlorohydrin and bis(p-hydroxyphenyl) sulphone is cured with (1), (3), (4) and (6) a guanamine derived from coconut oil acid fractions; (2) benzoguanamine and (5) stearoguanamine.
