Abstract

966,351. Clamp fastenings. BELLING & LEE Ltd. Feb. 11, 1963, No. 5390/63. Heading E2B. [Also in Division H4] In an assembly and aerial cross arm member 26 and a strengthening member 27 are secured together by a clamp comprising two jaws 1, 2 and means 24 for moving the jaws in and out of clamping engagement with and transversely of the strengthening member and cross arm member each jaw being provided with a tongue 12, inclined interiorly of the clamp, each so as to engage respective apertures on arms of the members when said member is between the jaws, the tongue of one jaw being arranged to act in the opposite direction to the tongue of the other jaw when the tongues engage their respective apertures. As shown the jaws are made from identical stampings, but the jaw 2 has a threaded bush 11 which is engageable with an aperture in the stamping so that means 24, which is a threaded bolt, can engage the bush to move the jaws towards each other. The bolt passes through the aperture in the other jaw. Each jaw is provided with side lugs to keep the two members spaced and end lugs which engage the outside faces of the two members. The jaws are thus adapted to grip members of square or rectangular crosssections but in a modification they can be designed to grip members of other crosssectional shape. The two members shown are part of a band IV or V television aerial.
