Abstract

A razor blade, e.g. of stainless steel, has adjacent the cutting edge a coating of a per-halocarbon polymer. The coating may be applied by dipping, flame spraying, electrostatic deposition, foil laying or by applying the blade to a stropping disc made of the per-halocarbon polymer or to a grinding wheel impregnated with the per-halocarbon polymer. The polymer may be polytetrafluoroethylene, polytrifluorochloroethylene or a copolymer of per-fluoroethylene and per-fluoropropylene. The blade may be pre- or post-heated. The coating composition may be an aqueous suspension of the polymer comprising a non-ionic p wetting agent, e.g. octylphenoxyethanol. The polymer may be mixed with an adhesive type resin. The second Provisional Specification discloses coating with the wetting agent alone.
