Abstract

A composition suitable for bleaching the skin of living creatures comprises the reaction product of the monobenzyl ether of hydroquinone and sodium hypochlorite, and free sodium hypochlorite. The composition may be compounded from 1/2 -6 weight ounces of the monobenzyl ether of hydroquinone and 1.25-8 fluid ounces of a 5.25% by weight aqueous solution of sodium hypochlorite. The composition may also contain a hydrophilic urguent or cosmetic, e.g. hydrophilic lanolin or lanolin derivative, and a solvent for the reaction product of the monobenzyl ether of hydroquinone and sodium hypochlorite, e.g. octyl acetate, ethyl acetate, diethyl phthalate and amyl acetate.
