Abstract

961,775. Packaging tow. MONSANTO CHEMICAL CO. March 30, 1962 [April 18, 1961], No. 12427/62. Heading D1F. A tow packaging apparatus comprises a base, a conveyer 16 for receiving the tow, and a movable shoot 27 for receiving the tow from the conveyer and transferring it to a container 61. The tow passes from a shoot 26, via a ladder conveyer 16 driven by belts 20, 21 to a piddler shoot 27 pivoted at 28 and oscillated through a link 29 attached to an endless belt 33 driven by belts 20 and 38. The container 61 is mounted on a carriage 52 which is mounted on rollers 53 on the base and is reciprocated in a direction transverse to the oscillation of the shoot by a similar belt and link mechanism (Fig. 2, not shown) so that the tow is laid uniformly and smoothly in the container.
