Abstract

961,713. Two-part couplings. BELLING & LEE Ltd. July 14, 1961 [Aug. 12, 1960] No. 27929/60. Heading H2E. In a two-part electrical connector having at least one pin and sleeve, the sleeve 1 passes through an aperture 17 in a clamping member carried by the socket and which is moved into and out of the clamping position by an eccentric member 20 moving in another aperture 21, the aperture 27 being so shaped as to compress the sleeve on to the pin in the clamping position. The eccentric member is preferably rotated by means of a spring-loaded knob 53 carried by the plug and having a screw-driver bit 54 which engages in notches in an extension 19 of the eccentric member 20. The leads 39 are clamped on entering the connector by a clamp according to Application 29488/60. A polarizing device 16 as described in Specification 961,714 may be incorporated. In a printed circuit version double-ended contacts with sleeves on both sides of the board may be used with a clamping member on either side. Specification 869,037 also is referred to.
