A machine for folding paper board box blanks having a base with four walls united by sealing engagement with flaps at the corners of the walls, comprises a forming die beneath a ram and forming head 11, which folds the walls of the blank perpendicular to the base, a pair of spaced heating elements 13 mounted in the die and operated by a solenoid 12 and means for causing the ram to dwell for a period of time between the elements 13. In operation, the blank 16 is placed on the die and operates a switch to start the motor and causes the head 11 to descend and fold the blank between bending bars 10. A time switch is operated when the blank is between the elements 13, to stop the motor for a period of time and the solenoid is energized so that the cams 20 push the elements 13 into engagement with the side walls of the blank to activate the adhesive and unite the flaps and side walls. When the time switch deenergizes the solenoid, spring means 21 pull the elements 13 clear of the box, the ram moves upwardly and the rod 15 is restrained to strip the box from the die. The ram 11 is provided with a rack engaged with a pinion on a shaft connected to the motor and also connected to a second shaft with a cam plate having lobes engaging switches controlling the sequence of operations.
