Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of general formula: <FORM:0950523/C2/1> wherein Ar represents a phenyl radical possibly substituted by one or more halogen atoms or by one or more alkyl groups having at most 3 carbon atoms; and their salts with inorganic or organic acids; and their preparation by reacting an alkali metal compound of a benzimidazole of general formula: <FORM:0950523/C2/2> with a compound of general formula: <FORM:0950523/C2/3> wherein Hal represents a halogen atom. Benzimidazoles of general formula II above are prepared by condensing o-phenylenediamine and appropriate benzaldehydes.
