Abstract

949,855. Removing dust generated in industrial processes. GRINNELL CORPORATION. March 7, 1961 [March 10, 1960], No. 8225/61. Heading F4X. Apparatus for collecting lint &c. from textile machinery, e.g. from the drop wires of a loom, comprises a box located beneath the drop wires and arranged substantially parallel to them, said box comprising an uninterrupted bottom wall, an end wall having an opening 24 communicating with a blower, an opposite end wall having an opening communicating with a suction source, and a cover spaced from the bottom wall defining air discharge slots 26, 28, 30, 32, the height of said slots above the bottom of the box progressively decreasing from the highest level at the blower end to the lowest level at the suction end. As shown, the cover comprises plates 23. Air from a blower enters the box at opening 24 and is directed by baffle 25 to flow out at the slots 26, 28, 30, 32. Lint which has collected in the vicinity of opening 26 is blown along the top of the cover by the successive draughts flowing through the slots until it enters collection box 35 where it is stopped by a filter.
