A refuse bin lid 5 has a handle 7 mounted to move like a plunger and a separatelyformed elastic container 11 for insecticidal or disinfectant liquid supported beneath the lid 5 to be compressed by inward movement of the handle 7 with ejection of its contents through a spraying nozzle or nozzles 20 beneath the lid 5, arranged at the container top, fed by a liquid-delivery tube 22 extending from the base thereof. The handle 7 has a dependant shank or shanks 8, at least one of which is passed through the lid 5 and bent laterally beneath it to hold the handle 7 captive but movable relative to the lid 5, and is fixed to a pressure plate 10. In a modification the handle 7 has at least one shank secured in a socket on the container 11 projecting through the lid 5, the filling orifice being then at the upper end. The container 11 rests in a cradle 15, positioned by means of the nozzle(s) 20 or any other projection, and is united to the lid underside, or the upper end of the container 11 may be attached to it, the cradle 15 being omitted. The opening in a metal lid is then covered with a fixed or detachable plate in which the handle 7 is mounted. The cradle for the container is omitted when the latter is moulded with an upstanding flange surrounding the pressure plate or its equivalent, and detachably secured to the lid underside. Alternatively, the lid may have a corresponding but dependant flange within which the container is screwed. Any bin lid accommodating a container 11 may have concentric flanges or rings of clips for association with bins of various diameters.
