Abstract
947,190. Liquid-applying devices. P. P. BAGSHAWE. April 6, 1960 [April 9, 1959], No. 11937/59. Heading B2B. An appliance for applying and brushing a liquid on to a surface comprises a liquidapplying roller 10, which may be covered with foamed rubber or plastic, a trailing rotary brush 35 arranged to be frictionally driven by reason of its bristles engaging the surface of the roller 10, and a liquid container 12 disposed above the roller 10 for the gravity supply of liquid thereto, the roller 10, brush 35 and container 12 being attached to one end of a long handle 22, with the roller and brush extending transversely to the handle, in such a manner that as the roller 10 is rolled along the surface to be treated, the brush 35 is resiliently urged into engagement with the surface. The container 12 may be mounted upon a valve body 15 containing a rotary plug-type valve member 26 formed on an extension 27 of the handle 22 which thus controls the flow of liquid to orifices 21 in a pipe 13. Arms 16, 17 are mounted on the ends of the pipe 13, and carry pins 18, 19 on which the roller 10 is pivoted, together with adjustable arms 32, 33 for supporting the roller 35. Springs 38 urge the roller 35 towards the surface to be treated.
