Abstract
Shaving soaps and creams comprise one or more compounds of the general formula <FORM:0943943/C3/1> wherein R1 and R4 are hydrogen atoms or, together with the group of formula <FORM:0943943/C3/2> form a naphthyl or tetrahydronaphthyl group and R2 and R3, which may be the same or different, are hydrogen or halogen atoms or C1-4 alkyl, aryl or aralkyl groups or such groups linked to the phenyl group through an oxygen atom, or their acid addition salts. Other conventional ingredients which may be present include 1 : 3-butylene or 1 : 2-propylene glycol, perfumes, preservatives, wetting agents, detergents and soaps, e.g. stearic acid and coconut oil saponified with sodium and potassium hydroxides.ALSO:Shaving preparations having a pilo-motor effect comprise a carrier and one or more compounds of general formula <FORM:0943943/A5-A6/1> wherein R1 and R4 are hydrogen atoms or, together with the grouping <FORM:0943943/A5-A6/2> form a naphthyl or tetrahydronaphthyl group and R2 and R3 which may be the same or different are hydrogen or halogen atoms or lower (C1-4) alkyl, aryl, or aralkyl groups or such groups linked to the phenyl group via an oxygen atom or their acid addition salts. They may be in forms suitable for use as shaving lotions, pre-treatment lotions and creams, shaving creams and shaving soaps and may comprise one or more perfumes, preservatives, wetting agents, dispersing agents, soaps, detergents, thickening agents, suspending agents, humectants, powder bases, colouring agents or oils which render the preparations suitable as such.
