935,885. Releasable fastenings. FLEXIGRIP Ltd. (Flexigrip Inc.). Jan. 1, 1962, No. 40/62. Class 44. [Also in Group XXVIII] A fastening element for fitting along the opposite edges of a flexible strip which can be bent to form a tube and held in this form by interengagement of corresponding fastening elements extending along the opposite edges of the strip, has, when seen in section, a linking portion 12 at one side for joining to the strip and a number of hook-shaped ribs 8, 9 the median plane of each rib making a different acute angle with the general plane of the linking portion and being inclined towards the linking portion. These features improve the grip when the two elements are engaged. The elements are either made integral with the strip, in such case the strip being a continuation of the linking portions, or alternatively the elements are stuck or heat-sealed to opposite longitudinal edges of the strip by means of the linking portions. In a modification the strip is made with two or more wall portions with air gaps between. The elements can either be engaged or separated by hand or a slider can be used.
