Abstract

935,252. Brackets. P. J. SHINKFIELD. March 22, 1961 [March 30, 1960], No. 11183/60. Class 52 (5). A bracket fitting for mounting a handrail 19 on a wall comprises a base mounting 10, secured to the wall by a headed bolt 14, and a bracket readily attachable thereto after attachment to the handrail by screws 20, the base mounting consisting of a plate 11 having a boss formed as a welded-on threaded collar 12, and the bracket consisting of a plate 18, for attachment to the handrail, a shank 16 having a conical head 17, and a freely mounted threaded sleeve 21 which screws into the collar 21 to clamp the head 17 against the head of the bolt 14, a friction washer 22 being interposed. In a modification, shown in Fig. 3, the boss is formed as an externally threaded collar 32 located on the base-plate 31 by a pin 33 passing through the plate and engaging a blind hole 32a in the collar. The stem may be bent for attachment on the underside of the rail.
