Abstract
932,140. Rolling. SIEMAG SIEGENER MASCHINENBAU G.m.b.H. Dec. 29, 1961 [Jan. 3, 1961], No. 46552/61. Class 83 (4). Displacement apparatus for a rolling mill comprises two shifter bars A and B movable across the rolling path either in opposite directions, as for the straightening of bent workpieces, or in the same direction for shifting a workpiece to another roll pass, one at least of the bars being fluid pressure operated by a ram, toothed gearing 9, 11 being provided for ensuring equal movement of the bars A and B whilst being moved in opposite directions, and being locked for movement of the bars in the same direction. As shown in Fig. 1, two pistons 5 and 6 are fluid pressure operated, whilst in a second embodiment, Fig. 3, both bars are moved by a single piston 23 acting through racks 29 and 32 and normally stationary pinions 31, movement of the arms in the same direction being possible by operating a piston 36 acting on the axle of pinions 31. The pinions 31 may, if necessary, be locked by a fluid pressure operated plunger 37 for this latter operation.
