Abstract

A tubular lamp post is made of synthetic resin reinforced with stressed glass fibres arranged substantially longitudinally and substantially circumferentially in separate layers one over the other. The glass fibres are arranged on a former being impregnated with resin between each layer of fibres, and the former with the fibres and resin thereon is inserted into a mould and compressed, the former and the mould being of tapering cross-section. The post may include a split metal tube or a number of metal strips with hooks to which the fibres are anchored.
