[Also in Group XXXVI] An electrical resistor element is made by applying a mask 12 to a dielectric base 11, the mask comprising powders such as metal oxides or silicates in a liquid vehicle such as a lacquer, scribing a desired pattern of lines 13, 14, 15 in the mask and vapour depositing a resistive film such as nickel-chromium on the scribed pattern. The nickel-chromium is deposited under vacuum at a temperature of not more than 700‹ C. and the masking layer may be applied during the glazing of the dielectric base. The base may be glass or a glazed ceramic and the powders of the masking layer may be alumina, chromic oxide, nickel oxide, silicon oxide or silicon dioxide. Specification 915,032 is referred to.
