923,010. Pressure-relieving devices for fluids; hydraulic accumulators. JERREN AFFILIATED CO'S Ltd. Nov. 28, 1960, No. 40863/60. Classes 69 (2) and 135. A shock-absorber for use in plumbing systems and the like for the reduction of fluid shock waves or pressure surges, comprises a resiliently distendable thimble tube member 15 retained by a closure 28 in a correspondingly shaped rigid outer casing 16 which has a wall 21 spaced a substantial distance from the resilient member to permit limited distention thereof, the space between the resilient member and the casing being filled with a resiliently compressible shock absorbent material 18, and a connection 30 registering with the open end of the resilient thimble tube member and adapted for connection to the plumbing system. It is stated that the apparatus may be tuned to react in phase with the shock waves or pressure surges.
