920,505. Seaming non-metallic sheet material. INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT CO. OF NATIONAL DISTILLERS & CHEMICAL CORPORATION S.A. Nov. 10, 1959 [April 23, 1959], No. 38095/59. Drawings to Specification. Class 42 (1). A sealing iron for sealing fusible thermoplastic film materials has a metal sole plate, and a cover formed of heat-resistant material and impregnated with a heat-resistant silicone polymer covering the sole plate. The heat-resistant material e.g. creped paper masking tape, cotton, fabrics, synthetic fabrics or mineral fabrics is sprayed with a silicone mould release oil e.g. trimethylsilyl end-blocked polymethylsiloxanes and may be attached to the iron or to an adapter for fitting on to a conventional iron. Where the sheet material is polyethylene a sealing temperature of 300-340‹ F. is used.
