Abstract
919,858. Coated fabrics. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Feb. 10, 1961 [Feb. 23, 1960], No. 6310/60. Class 140. A plastic sheet material provided with a water-sensitive adhesive coating on one face is manufactured by applying to the sheet a dispersion including a powdered water-sensitive adhesive and a water absorbing mineral material in a solution of an organic polymer in an organic solvent, and, thereafter, removing the solvent. The water-activatable adhesive may contain from 2 to 10 parts by weight of the water-sensitive component, e.g. starch, dextrin, polyvinyl alcohol, natural or synthetic glue, for each part of the dry organic polymer. The proportion of water-absorbing mineral material is up to 10 parts by weight for each part of dry organic polymer. The plastic sheet material may be a polymer of vinyl chloride, or a copolymer thereof with a copolymerizable material, e.g. vinyl acetate, which may be compounded with resinous acrylic polymers or with an acrylonitrile.butadienestyrene copolymer. The organic polymer may be polyvinyl chloride or vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer.
