Abstract

919,501. Coated fabrics. COURTAULDS Ltd. Nov. 11, 1960 [Nov. 13, 1959], No. 38525/59. Drawings to Specification. Class 140. [Also in Group IX] A tear resistant fabric having a tightly woven face ply and a more open back ply is showerproofed by padding with Alcoprufe and drying on a stenter. The back of the fabric may then be waterproofed by coating with rubber, vinyl chloride, or methyl or ethyl esters of acrylic or methacrylic acids. In an example, the coating composition consists of an ethyl-acrylate polymer, a methylated trimethylol melamine, a water repellent, and an amine hydrochloride catalyst; the fabric is baked on a stenter, given another water repellent treatment, and again stentered.
