Abstract

906,832. Cotters; bolts; hinges and pivots. VICKERS AIRCRAFT HOLDINGS Ltd. Dec. 30, 1960 [Jan. 4, 1960], No. 234/60. Classes 65 (2), 89 (1) and 89 (2). A tubular pin 16 coupling a member 17 to a forked member 11 is locked in position by balls 21, 22 therein being forced outwardly into grooves in the bushings 14, 15 of the forked member 11 by a central pin 25 which is held in the locked position by a spring 41. For removal of the pin 16 the end 44 of pin 25 is pushed inwards to allow the balls 21, 22 to fall into grooves 39, 40. The pin 16 may also be screw-threaded at one end for a securing-nut 19 and have a head at the other end. The central pin 25 is made sufficiently strong to maintain the load on the coupling should the tubular pin 16 break.
