Abstract

906,361. Securing rotors on shafts. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. April 6, 1961 [April 9, 1960], No. 12445/61. Class 80 (2). [Also in Group XXVI] A rotor for a fluid-flow machine such as an axial-flow compressor comprises at least one disc which is detachably secured on a shaft, the disc being formed integrally with a hub portion which extends axially at both sides of the disc, the axial extensions being formed with radially outwardly facing centring surfaces, and being constructed so as to permit expansion under stress, the centring surfaces engaging with centring surfaces on parts integral with or secured to the shaft, there being no axial connection between the axial extensions and the parts integral with or secured to the shaft. In Fig. 1 a single disc 12 is mounted on a shaft 11, the disc having a hub portion 13 with axial extensions 13<SP>1</SP>, 1311 which are formed with radially outwardly facing centring surfaces 14, 15 and with axially facing abutment surfaces 18, 19. The shaft is formed with an integral undercut ring portion, the centring surface 14 engaging with the inwardly-facing surface 14<SP>1</SP> thereon and the abutment surface 18 bearing against the axially facing surface 20 thereon, keys or pins 22 engaging recesses in the surfaces 18, 20 to transmit drive. A sleeve 17 is disposed on the shaft at the other side of the disc, the sleeve being formed with an inwardlyfacing surface 15<SP>1</SP> and an axially-facing surface 21 with which the centring surface 15 and the abutment surface 19 respectively of the disc extensions 13<SP>11</SP> engage. The axial extensions 13<SP>1</SP> and 13<SP>11</SP> of the disc are formed with annular channels to permit expansion. In a second embodiment, Fig. 2, a series of discs are mounted on the shaft 111, and a series of T-section rings 130 are disposed therebetween, the axial extensions 113<SP>1</SP>, 113<SP>11</SP> of each disc having radially outwardly facing centring surfaces 114, 115 which engage with corresponding surfaces 114<SP>1</SP>, 115<SP>1</SP> formed on the rings. Each disc is drivingly connected to an adjacent ring by means of a toothed coupling 131.
