Abstract

903,724. Planographic printing. BOILLET, E. Oct. 10, 1958 [Oct. 26, 1957 ; May 9, 1958], No. 32401/58. Class 100 (2). [Also in Group XV] A lithographic printing process, enabling a two colour image to be obtained in a single operation (without the necessity for a separate damping operation), comprises applying to a plate, having the properties of a lithographic stone, a special ink (see Group XV). This ink comprises an emulsion containing glycerin as a damping component and a colouring agent soluble therein, a binder as a vehicle for another colouring agent insoluble in the damping component, and an emulsifier, the proportions of the constituent of the ink being such that the damping component separates on contact with the lithographic plate so that the two colouring agents settle separately. The lithographic plate may be of glass, chrome, stippled zinc or aluminium which may carry an image in the form of a deposit such as a light-sensitive colloid, glass carrying metallic particles, synthetic plastic possibly coated with a thin layer of an alkaline silicate on which metallic particles are deposited, or a " bi-metal " plate.
