Abstract

902,248. Dry shavers. WAHL CLIPPER CORPORATION. Oct. 8, 1959, No. 34105/59. Class 131. A dry shaver head comprises an outer shearplate 30 and a reciprocated inner cutting-member 36 which are formed of thin flexible prehardened sheet-metal, each having a perforate portion including a cutting region, the entire regions being in contact, deformable and resilient so that when the shear-plate is deformed the cutting member deforms and contact between the cutting regions is maintained. As shown, the shear-plate is arched and is secured by bars 32 to a bearing 20 integral with the casing 15. An electromagnet 17 and an armature 18, adjustable by springs to suit the voltage, are enclosed in the casing which has a removable part 16. A projection 23 of the armature passes through an aperture 22 at one end of the bearing 20 to engage in an aperture in a tongue 45 of a moulded nylon support 37 which has grooves to receive the edges of the cutting member. The tongue 45 is depressed by the engagement with the projection 23 to ensure bearing relation between the support 37 and the bearing 20. The initial contact between the shear-plate and the cutting-member may be such as to deform these members to provide cutting bias. The apertures in the shear-plate and cutting-member are formed by stamping or etching.
