Abstract
901,135. Toys. PENDLE, T. J. July 28, 1960, No. 26274/60. Class 132 (3). A mechanical device for motivating a part or parts of a toy, consisting of a propelling part made of resilient material and a resilient guide part having a channel or guide wherein the propelling part fits closely and moves freely, two adjacent ends of the respective parts being fastened together so that when the free end of the guide part is held stationary relative to the free end of the propelling part and a force is applied to the free end of the propelling part, in line with and away from or towards the channel or guide, the guide part, together with the propelling part, bend in a curve. The guide part a has one or more rows of pairs of tabs c which retain the propelling part or parts b. A clip d secures adjacent ends together. The free end of the propelling part b may be pulled or pushed manually or be operated by electric or clockwork motor. The guide part a may have a row of tabs and a propelling part b on each side. A helical coil retained by the tabs may form a guide for the propelling part b. Alternatively, the guide part a may comprise a helical spring, some of the coils being pressed to provide a channel through which the propelling part b passes. The guide part may have various shapes which produce a variety of curves.
