Abstract
896,017. Casting-machines. NATIONAL LEAD CO. Sept. 4, 1958 [Sept. 5, 1957], No. 28403/58. Class 83 (1). A die-casting machine comprises a core, a number of die segments, and guide means for directing the movement of said die segments away from the core in a direction having a component parallel to the direction of ejection of the casting and a component perpendicular to said direction, so that said segments are moved at angles other than 90 degrees with respect to the movement of the casting. Movable die parts 40 are mounted in the ejector die 20. After injection and solidification of the metal the ejector die 20 is moved away from the cover die 10 and ejector plate 70 is actuated to cause the casting 90 to be ejected by pins 74. At the same time pins 72 move guide blocks 50 in the direction of the cover die and the die members 40 are constrained to move outwardly in the guideways 52 in the guide-blocks 50, and upwardly along guideways 36 in the housing 32. The invention is applicable to cores.
