Abstract

894,461. Primary batteries. CORSON Inc., G. & W. H. May 9,1960, No. 16351/60. Drawings to Specification. Class 53. A primary battery uses as an electrolyte liquid ammonia with dissolved reacted sulphur which also acts as a depolarizer, either alone or in conjunction with conventional ones. A variety of electropositive metals can be used as anodes and carbon platinum boron zirconium or tantalum may be used as cathodes. The ammonia may be added when the cell is required for use, from a breakable ampoule, for example. In addition to the ammonia/sulphur compounds other electrolyte forming compounds may be used. Specifications 794,970 and 834,122 are referred to.
