Abstract

A hydraulic telescopic pit prop operated by a fluid including water has a coating of plastic on the surfaces which are in contact with the water. The plastic may comprise (a) an ethoxylin p resin in a solvent with molybdenum disulphide applied by spraying; (b) a comminuted polyamide powder applied by spraying on to the heated walls to sinter or by dipping the heated prop in an air agitated bath of powder; (c) a silicon resin burnt into the prop walls.
