Abstract
890,756. Valve frequency selective circuits; automatic gain control arrangements. OAK MANUFACTURING CO. Sept. 1, 1959, No. 29782/59. Classes 40(5) and 40(6). A valve circuit including two valves connected in series, with a conductive connection between the anode of the first and the cathode of the second, has means for maintaining the control grid of the second valve at a potential intermediate that between the anode of the second and the cathode of the first valve. A cascade circuit for facilitation automatic gain control in a television receiver includes a potential divider 25, 28 which form a biasing circuit for the control grid of the valve 11, the cut-off characteristic of the stage being controlled by the relative values of these resistors. The characteristic is further influenced by the addition of resistor 34. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 2) suitable for tuning over a band of frequencies, an inductor 40 is included between valves 10 and 11 and neutralizing is provided by capacitor Cn and inductor 41. An additional resistor 48 is provided to further influence the cut-off as the automatic gain control voltage is varied. Curves showing variations of characteristics with bias on valve 10 are given.
