Abstract

889,848. Electric motors with movable core parts. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.G. April 28, 1960 [April 30, 1959], No. 14881/60. Class 35. [Also in Groups XXV and XXXIV] A spring applied, electro-magnetically released brake means (Group XXXIV) for electric motors with an axially non-displacable motor shaft 2 comprises a brake disc 6 displaceably arranged in the direction of the axis of the shaft 2 and adjustably connected to an operating member 3 such that the disc is operatively connected to the shaft by one or more torque-transmitting members 7 yielding in the direction of the axis of the shaft, and arranged apart from the brake applying spring 5. The operating member comprises a bolt 3 connected to an armature 4 and mounted axially displaceable within the motor shaft 2 and the brake disc 6 outside one end of the motor shaft encloses a polygonal collar 12 of a preferably cylindrical nut 13 mounted on the bolt 3, the collar 12 at least at one of its sides abutting a spring 14 mounted on the brake disc 6, the spring thereby preventing the free rotation of the nut and allows the nut to be rotated by external forces, e.g. by means of a screwdriver or the like, for adjusting the position of the brake disc on the motor shaft. The torquetransmitting members may be formed as leaf or helical springs or may be formed as a rubber disc or a number of rubber blocks.
